19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
